Boost your body confidence...

The majority of us aren't happy with our bodies. A lot of people think that losing weight to become the slimmest possible versions of ourselves is the answer, but maybe it isn't?

Just listening to other girls talk about their bodies has made me realise this. Throughout my life, I have always heard 'does this make me look fat', or 'take the photo from this point up so I don't look fat', even from my friends who have figures that are to DIE FOR.

I sound much like a hypocrite here, because I myself am trying to slim down. But I realise recently I have lost all the body/self-confidence I once had. Don't get me wrong, I have never been the queen of 'I don't care what anyone thinks because I feel good', but I have always just kind of got on with it without really getting upset over it. This was all true until a couple of nights ago... I was due to go out with some friends (to get absolutely smashed, of course... it's freshers for crying out loud), but as soon as it came to getting dressed I just broke down because everything in my wardrobe either didn't fit or I purely felt really uncomfortable in it. I HATED feeling like this because, well frankly, I don't ever get like that for the most part. I have days where I look at myself in the mirror and think 'ew', but it's never got to the point where I actually cry about it (unless I'm extremely drunk and just want to have a reason to cry).

So today I've decided to try and do something about it. It's made me feel pretty shitty over the last couple of days, so why not try and make a positive change? There about about a billion-and-one articles about 'improving body confidence', but I'm just gonna write down some tips that I'm going to try out myself to try and help. We'll see how it goes!

I know in previous posts I've mentioned exercise loads, but it actually makes me feel good about myself. After a run I always feel like I've achieved something - I feel good, and it makes me feel a lot less guilty if I want to eat a little bit of chocolate or something. Everyone knows that exercise releases happy chemicals into your brain, and it honestly works to making me feel better about myself!

I feel like Donna sums it up pretty well (if you haven't seen Parks and Recreation then what the hell are you doing!?) It's nice to treat yourself once in a while - there's no point in going to work for hours and not being able to buy yourself a little something at the end of the month with that money! Buy yourself a cute new outfit, or even just a new top, or in my case I'm going to treat myself to some very pretty make-up (expect posts about it).

Oooo, a cheeky taboo. I won't go into too much detail because of some of the people that read my blog, but having good sex with someone you love will make a difference. Feeling sexy will definitely boost your confidence!

If you want to go out in jeans and a baggy jumper when everyone else is dressing up, to hell with everyone else. Just feel comfortable in what you're wearing. When you go shopping for clothes, go for your actual size and not the size that you wish you could be - I have done this plenty of times where I go a size down and then end up not feeling comfortable because it shows of my rolls. Don't be like me!

Everyone will totally understand you, and will help to support you! Talk to your family/friends about how you're feeling, getting it off your chest takes such a weight off your shoulders. When I broke down about not being able to find something nice to wear, I spent about half an hour just crying to my boyfriend. I felt so much better knowing that he now knows what I'm going through. Don't get frustrated before talking to someone about it... DON'T BE LIKE ROSS!

So those are the tips I'm going to try and follow to regain that little bit of confidence I had before. Hopefully it'll make some what of a difference!

What do you think? Is there any other tips that you can suggest? Let me know on any of my social media!
